Hispanic Heritage (my playlist for film and television) (2025)

As a Tejana/Mexican descendancy our narratives are obscured by NorthWest Texas borderland crime and Chicano Mestizos narratives of California or Urban Mexican Chicago...and the urban Latino diaspora of Non-Mexican /borderland life. These are unheard of, practically ALL of media portrays Mexican/Americans in a bio-regional location that is *unlike* my own. Just like every region in Mexico plays a cultural influence, so does the Mexican-American of Tejano influence and culture. Ours is precious, it is quiet, and it permeates us with our language, our tongue. 

I became adamant as I grew older to search for culture and arts from my native south texas borderland.... I wanted to annotate somewhere the oral traditions of our stories, our customs, our delicious foods, and our hospitality as I once knew it. The herbs, plants, shrubs, trees, bio regional lore that comes with south texas days, are often times no where to be found but with Botanicas, Hierberias, and someone who knows someone. The Curanderos we knew, they no longer exist back home (Webb county) and these parts start to ache all of a sudden. Are we fading away?

Deep in the belly of Webb county, we're even on the Audubon Society's top places for south texas birding . The herbs, plants are incredibly resistant , for as long as I can remember, these were my friends and accompanied me in my potions as a child. Who knew (I mean, I sincerely felt it as a child) but Who...KNEW🤷🏻‍♀️💕....
